I have iMac OS X running Windows XP Home Ed. with Parallels. I can't print from Windows and need to for some work applications. I have read, researched this forum and performed tasks by trial and error and still can't get Windows to recognize the HP Photosmart 3100 series printer and the USB port. 'Prints fine in Mac OS X, but not Windows XP. I may just have to set up a network, but have not done that before. I do have 3 computers connected to a router, but no official network. In devise manager, I get that little yellow triangle with the "!" on one of the USP ports. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Trouble Printing From Windows To Mac Printer?

Go to apple.com/macosx/features/bonjour. Download-Bonjour for Windows and you will get a wizard that will have you printing in minutes! Note:You Do Not Install a printer in Windows! The wizard connects Windows to your existing Mac printer.

    Thanks Keith

Thank you very much for telling me that I SHOULD NOT load a printer in Windows. I thought about that. I have Bonjour installed and was wondering why it did not recognize the printer in Windows, but now I know. I'll try it.

    Another Printing problem solved.

:) I got it all working. I found a few glitches for what it is worth to anyone. I found that my printer is installed in the Windows control panel. It would not work unless I installed a printer driver from the disc. Internet has to be active in Windows, but I guess this is mirroring the Mac connection??? In order to print in color, upon engaging the print command, I have to go to the second tab and select the radio button to print in color. Bonjour did work just fine and I am going to try networking our other computer with it too! I'd love to disable internet connection in Windows almost permanently and access internet ONLY through the Mac, for obvious reasons. And... if Parallels and Windows are OFF, is my Mac vulnerable to whatever virus or spyware that come through Windows? Thanks a bunch. This forum is very helpful. :)

    A different printer

I have a HP PSC 1510 printer that I got with my iMac. I cannot get it to print in XP. Bounjour does not work, as far as I can tell.

Can you help me as well as the last one?

    THANKS!

    Bonjour works great

Thanks for the Bonjour for Windows tips. Within about a minute of downloading it I was printing wirelessly from the printer connected to my Mac Mini from Windows XP on my MacBook Pro. It was so easy, even I could do it.

Switching printing between OS-X and Windows

I may have missed the answer to this but here's my question. If I have Parallels/Windows running and Windows can see the printer, OS-X can't see it unless I shut down Windows. If I booted up OS-X and immediately printed something, then opened Windows, Windows can't see the printer. All of this is also true when loading a CD, jump drive, etc. In VMWare, you load a CD and both your primary and guest OS can see it. Am I missing something or is what I'm getting about as good as it gets. Thanks in advance.

Can't Print on the Mac Side.

I have the opposite problem -- I can print in Windows but not on the Mac side. I have an HP Deskjet 5740, and downloaded the driver for Mac, and then it worked for a few days. But then I had to reinstall Parallels from my CD because of issues with the latest downloaded upgrade for Parallels, and now it's no go. It won't even print through my LAN if I have the printer connected to my laptop, and it used to do that as well.

Any ideas? I tried Bonjour and couldn't install it. An error message said something about it wasn't in Apple Script. Sorry -- I am a brand new Mac user and very clueless.

    Thanks! :)
