It would be nice to use Parallels like a printing application. I think that the Parallels Tools should install a printer in windows, and when printing from Windows, Parallels pops up a standard Macintosh printer dialog. So it will be possible to use the whole Macintosh printer workflow like writing PDF or mailing printouts via Apples Mail.
Virtual PC used to do this -- very handy. I, too, hope that Parallels will do this in the near future.
But it should be better integrated than in VirtualPC. In VPC You can only use PostScript or printing with 16 colors in low resolution. But many programs on Windows have a problem to print in PostScript. Parallels should also use an non PostScript printer for this job. A printer where you can define any resolution you want and any color depth.
Yes I too vote for this. The PDF support under Windows is pathetic or too damn expensive for personal use!! It would be good if we can use Mac PDF printing futures from Windows under Parallels. Thanks.
Sure would be very useful... and a reason more to use a Mac with Parallels instead of a PC... Bye Luca Severini
It sounds like a good idea to me as well. RDC also has this feature. Furthermore, Apple printing to the Windows printers would be useful. This could be useful for printers that do not have the full print auditing built into the OS X drivers. Yes, you could hack-around to get either of these things working 99% of the time, but a clean solution would be nice.
Is printer sharing not working? I mean share Windows printer (I assume Windows VM is using Bridging Ethernet) and connect to that printer from Mac OS. I hope this will help http://iharder.sourceforge.net/current/macosx/winmacprinter/
