Occasionally I have to take my macbook to a remote location. The software I need to use is windows based. The printer is a brother hl5370dw laser printer. supposed to be wireless, but it isn't set up a such. My laptop is a mid 2010 Mac book Pro running OS/x el capitan, 8gb ram, 500gb ssd. I upgraded to P11, and it is running W10 in a VM. All o/s software has the latest updates installed. The printer is hooked up via USB port to the MBP. With P11 closed, I can install the printer on the mac and print to it fine. P11 was installed with the share printers to mac checked. When I open the P11 desktop, open W10 and look at devices the printer is there and on-line. Running the software I need the printer is there and it works fine. But, if I need to go back to the OS/x machine and try to print to the printer its 'busy' and unavailable. I get a yellow light on it's status bar and documents just pile up in the print que. It's really inconvenient, how do i sort out the printer so it works under both os/x and the W10 VM?
Hello John, Please follow this article and make sure you have all setting correct to share the printers between both the Windows and Mac side. Then follow this article to ensure printer sharing from the Mac side.
Thank you. I followed the first article when i set the printer up, but I notice today I did not have share turned on on the mac per the second article. That may be the problem. I hope so.
