    Hello there

At our company we have a growing number of computers (ca 50) and therefore I'm thinking about using Open Directory. Also some users need Windows, so parallels is also needed.

After a little thinking about what will happen with home directories on the network and image files from parallels, I think that parallels should do resonably fine over the network.

But then: A growing number of our users became laptop users: Salesmen, people who followup the construction-sites (being a contractor) and so on. Portable Home Directories (a function of Open Directory) is a welcome feature: users can be independent of open directory while still having a synced copy of their files on the network allowing them to log in anywhere, AND having a backup of their files when their laptop is lost/stolen.

But when Parallels's image file is in this home directory, that means if a user uses windows, they'll have to sync a file of 10 gigs or so. That's going to take a long time to login/logout, even without considering we have a wireless structure ;)

Is there anyone else in this situation? And what solutions are there to be able to use parallels in conjunction with PHD and OD?
