I spent most of today trying to figure out why Parallels was causing my Mac Pro (6 GB RAM) to slow to a crawl once I started up my Windows XP VM. The computer and the VM were unusable. I had physically moved my computer the day before and I'm guessing that some change to my network caused problems with the networking settings.

So I eventually deleted the Parallels NAT and Parallels Host-Guest configurations in System Preferences > Network and then reinstalled Parallels 3188. Once the reinstall was completed I started up Parallels and the VM in Coherence mode started up quickly. The sluggish issues now appear to be gone.

I've read some other posts that sounded similar so hopefully this will work for some of you.

Update: Well, this seemed to be only a temporary fix. It's now acting sluggish again. Darn.
