I recently installed Parallels 4.0 on my MacBook and now want to install Photoshop CS2 on the MAC OS. When i put in the Disk and click setup it automatically boots up Windows Virtual Machine and begins the windows installer as if i wanted to put it on the Windows Machine. The Disk contains both Mac and Windows versions but will only appear as windows. Even when i am closed out of Parallels it still says the default program to open the Photoshop Setup.exe is Windows Explorer. What do i do besides un-install Parallels and then re-install after Photoshop?
First of all, make sure that Parallels is completely shut down. i.e. if you just close the window Parallels would still run in the background, since this is Parallels 4.0 the easiest way would be to use "Shut down" button. As long as the Parallels is not running it should not take the control of the CD. Addotionally, you can temporary disable Shared applications and Smartselect features in Parallels, so that .exe files would not be treated as Windows ones (although they actually are) and launch Parallels automatically. You can have a look at the following links to get more information on these features: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v4/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/22690.htm http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v4/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide/22692.htm
