Performance bug with cd-rom. Windows XP host/Ubuntu guest

    I just found a bug in Parallels 2.1 and 2.2. If you assign the real device to the cd-rom, for example /dev/scd0 but it doesn't have a cd in the tray you'll get REALLY degraded performance under the guest operating system.
    The solution is to not connect the cd-rom at boot and activate it once you insert a cd. Or just have a cd always in.
    It seems like the guest operating system is constantly polling the device and so it becomes really unresponsive.

    Might help some out there having this issue make them crazy :)

    Btw, it's running on a Dell Inspiron 9300.
