What games DOES parallels 3.0 play? Does it do DirectX?

So far I've tried two, and both failed to launch.

Did Parallels even get around the limitation where MacOSX wanted the videocard for itself and wouldn't give it to the PC?

Wouldn't it make more sense to just "steal" the videocard from MacOSX and give it to Windows? Or just "ask nicely" by making a feature request to Apple's bug reporter... for an API to take the videocard off of MacOSX. Perhaps just ask your friends at apple to put in a good word for your request...

    Hello argh,

There is a special games thread in the forum. You should have posted there.

DirectX 8 is supported. DirectX 9 is not supported in current version. You should check the game's system requirements before trying to launch it in Parallels. You should also look through Compatibility list in Finder - Applications - Parallels - Release Notes - Compatible 3D Applications and Games.

We are working hard to enlarge this list.

If Parallels Desktop was "stealing" video card from Mac OS - your Mac screen would just go blank and you would not even be able to see Windows in VM. We just make a passtrough from VM to Mac OS in order to process 3D graphics.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

    I don't believe that.

If a Mac can work without a videocard (at least they used to be able to on MacOSX), then if you steal the videocard... then MacOSX should still be able to work.

Why not ask some hackers to figure this out for you ;) I'm sure there are some experts scattered around the world who would appreciate a challenge.

If you set a formal challenge, with a reward, for some hackers to figure out and make public, a way to "steal" the videocard and execute instructions directly to it, then return the videocard safely back to the MacOSX... that could have useful benefits to your company.

Also, a good idea to make a formal request to apple to "borrow" The videocard via a proper API.
