It says it doesn't recognize the file. It's freezing Parallels. Interminable beach ball. I have to force quit Parallels twice to get it to quit. I've tried to launch it from the window that asks if I want to run the installation, it I get a beach ball that requires a force quit twice to get it to close. I have tried launching just from the DMG. All the same. This is the latest build that is downloading when I check for updates.

Previous to this, I've also been getting strange window tiling in Windows, with the same window being tiled behind a *bunch* of times.

Please help. I'm so glad I don't have to open this program very often. I can hardly get any work done when I do.

Upgrade from Build 5600 to 5608 spinning disk

When I try to launch Build 5608 which I downloaded from the Parallels website, I get the dreaded spinning disk. I just successfully downloaded Build 5600 after numerous spinning disk attempts using "http://download.parallels.com/stuff/...600-Mac-en.dmg" as suggested by Senior Member, John. Where is a valid .dmg file for Build 5608?

Obvious Hint: Just change 5600 to 5608 in the address ;P

    I am having similar problem

With my MacBook Pro, I am running Parallels 6 perfectly well. The automatic updates also come in OK. However, when I come to install the update, it asks me to shut down the Parallels Desktop. When I do, the updater no longer runs as it has the || Parallels symbol on its icon (in Mac dock) which means it can only run whilst Parallels Desktop is running. If I remain in the updater, it will not move forward any further as it shows that Parallels Desktop is still running...

I am in a catch 22 situation here: the updater requires me to shut down Parallels Desktop but it won't run when the PD is shut down... How does one get around this please? Can the Parallels updater run purely on the Mac OS at all, thus eliminating the need for the PD to be opened? Am at wits end.
I know someone earlier mentioned something called Sudo but I have no understanding of this kind of stuff, sorry...
