    I have a discussion on calculating PI using a short shell script on my site ( http://www.geekronomicon.com/?q=node/79 ) and thought it would be interesting to compare my 3ghz PC running Ubuntu, Dual 1 gig PowerMac, 2ghz MacBookPro, and Ubuntu running on top of OS X using Parallels.

    Here's some results:

    Calculating PI at 5000 places:

    PowerMac (2002 Quicksilver model) Dual 1 Ghz CPUs: :
    Approx 9 minutes 1 second

    Ubuntu on a 3Ghz PC:
    Approx 57 seconds

    Intel-based MacBookPro at 2Ghz::
    Approx. 1 minute 18 seconds

    Intel-based MacBookPro running Ubuntu using Parallels:
    Approx. 1minute and 11 seconds

    Amazing! Ubuntu running in Parallels on my MacBookPro is faster at calculating PI than the MacBookPro itself!

    Very cool Parallel Team!
