I have a Windows 2000 VM running. There are no applications active. Windows process manager shows 0% CPU utilization. I even close down process manager. Minimize the window.

Mac OS X reports that Parallels is using between 25-40% CPU on my Macbook while doing nothing!?

I've tried installing Vista and saw very high CPU usage even when Vista wasn't doing anything noticable.

What is causing this CPU utilization? Is there anything that can be done to reduce it?

I feel it important to remind the Parallels developers that the users mostly want to be able to run Mac applications, and want to run Parallels when they need to. You can't make the Windows experience very good while harming the Mac experience. If all I wanted to do was run Windows applications, I'd run bootcamp.
