Hi all, first time poster, evaluation Parallels and it's going great with one big exception!

The one thing I need to run under emulation is the game Everquest. It runs butter smooth but it is entirely too dark

-Gamma doesn't work at all. Not in the Alt-O panel and not under system-wide on the parallels VM.
-Tried installing Power Strip, it lets me set gamma but it has no effect.

So that's the biggy. But also:

-Using Function keys is disastrous. You can turn off the Mac Functions under the keyboard settings but still doesn't seem to give EQ the full use of them. I have to use a mix of command and function to get the game to respond to all the keys

Any help here would be really appreciated. If I can just get gamma working I'll pay for my full copy immediately, I have 2-3 days of testing left and it took me this long to get here....

I am having the same problem with the gamma issues. Thief I & II and Jedi Knight are far too dark and gamma control do nothing. Would really like a solution to this.

I wound up adjusting the global video properties in OSX to create a second profile with cranked gamma just for EQ. I use that when I'm gaming and then switch back to the 'real' calibration when I want to edit photos. Not great but it works. Used the MacUpdate promo and paid for my copy and I'm good to go.

Just fought the same fight, came up with a quick-and-dirty solution: http://michelf.com/projects/gamma-control/ Just run it before starting to play, set the appropriate gamma correction and enjoy playing. As soon as you close Gamma Control, the settings just return to normal.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the Gamma Control tip. I play Dota2 through Parallels, and amongst lots of glitches you cannot control the Gamma. Thumbs up, works perfectly, and you don't have to change setting before starting the game.

I use a program called HandyGamma. It is a neat and simple little program to adjust the gamma of your display for games like Everquest..
