    Hi,

I have Parallels 6 running Windows XP.

Parallels is quickly filling up my disk. In the Parallels "pvm" file, which in my case is named Windows XP.pvm, there are 3 copies of a pair of *.hdd files.

One pair of files, winxp.hdd and winxp 1.hdd are the main drive image files. (I don't know why winxp 1.hdd exists - it was last updated in Sep 2008.) There is also a folder called, "Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)".

The *.pvm file also has a folder named, "Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)". And in that folder is another named, "Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)". And so on, seemingly forever. In this hierarchy of "Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)" folders, all except the first two levels are empty. And in each of these first two "Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)" folders, there are identical copies of winxp.hdd and winxp 1.hdd.

I would think that I only need one copy of backup files. Does Parallels use the "Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)" files? And can I delete them if I want?

Also in the Documents folder on my Mac, there is a folder called, "Parallels", and in that is a folder called, "PC Backup". The files in the PC Backup folder are all named, "Mac WinXPxx.sos, where xx is a sequence number. I can't find a reference to these files in the Parallels User Guide. There doesn't seem to be a file extension called, ".sos". These sos files range in size from 1.75 GB to 15.75 GB. I would like to delete most of these files. Is this safe?

    Bob
