23 January 2013 Hi everyone, Just a bit of real-world positive status to report for a new install of Parallels 8 by a (well-seasoned) Mac user new to the Parallels product: Environment * Hardware - MacBook Pro Retina 13" | 2.9 GHz Intel dual core i7 | 8GB memory * OS - Mac OSX 10.8.2 ----- Install results Parallels 8® Desktop for Mac, Revision 823166 | Build 8.0.18354, Parallels Tools - successful install, product authorization, config. ----- Mac VM Results * Export to external drive and Migration of a previous Bootcamp/Windows 7 27gb image from a MacBook Air to a new VM hosted on MacBook Pro - successful transfer, no launch or functional/performance issues. * Export over wired ethernet of a 34gb Windows XP laptop image via Parallels Transporter to new VM hosted on MacBook Pro - 15 minutes for a successful transfer, VM relaunched without issues. ----- Both VM's are currently launched, and interoperate well with each other and Mac OSX in Coherence mode. From this hands-on product experience, coupled with a rapid and knowledgable response from a Tech. Support pre-sales inquiry, (and many more years on Mac OS than I am willing to admit - including a product management role in the Apple ecosystem itself), I have to commend Parallels - this is a superb horizontal solution and a great out-of-the-box product. Well done. Regards, Marc
