Parallels Desktop 10 for MAC, Windows XP (VM), Yosemite 10.10.1 On occasion I will find that if I go to Finder|All My Files it will be blank and when that happens Spotlight also can not find anything. When I then try the normal method to reindex the MAC via Preferences|Spotlight|Privacy and adding and then removing a folder from the "Prevent Spotlight from searching these locations", it fails with an "unknown error". To correct the problem I need to Suspend Parallels and restart the MAC, choosing the "Don't open Parallels" option. Another problem I have which may be related to, and possibly the cause of, the above concerns Coherence mode and Excel. I do a lot of computer programming of macros for Excel and to do that in Excel you need to go to the Visual Basic environment (the VBE) which shows up as a second window. Normally I can switch between the two windows by just selecting one of them from the other, but on occasion when I'm in the VBE, Excel locks up I can not get to the main Excel window, neither by clicking on the main window nor via the toolbar button in the VBE that should take me there. To fix the problem I have to force quit Excel. To my knowledge this doesn't happen when I'm not in Coherence mode. While I don't know for sure, I think that this results in the loss of MAC indexing. If someone has a solution for this, great, but I'm mainly posting to report this to Parallels.
