I've got Parallels 9 set to pause my Windows client when there are no active windows. Unfortunately it appears as though the pause occurs within a matter of seconds so when I try to open a Windows file from my Mac (an Access DB in this case), Windows 7 starts up and then pauses before the Windows app even opens. I did not have this problem with Parallels 8. Is there anything that can be done to adjust the time Parallels will wait for inactivity before pausing Windows? I don't want to turn off the Pause feature because I rarely use Windows apps and don't want to keep Windows running all of the time or shut down Parallels and wait for it to launch Windows when I do need to use a Windows app.

    Thanks,
    Tom

There are two types of pauses in parallels. The first is what you describe and I recommend actually don't use it. The other one is in windows. When windows goes to sleep, parallels pauses the VM. You can set the amount of time before windows goes to "sleep" i.e. parallels pauses the machine. It's under control panel => power options => parallels or whatever profile is selected => change plan settings => and you can select what time it goes to sleep depending on time whether it's plugged in, etc.
