What are we seeing? Well, the first image about Vista... this is an infinite loop. Everytime I say "install anyhow", it just goes and brings that same dialog box back up again. I can press "install anyhow" for as long as I like, no change. Same dialog box. The parallels auto converter thing... got stuck at the same stage. It reported that it failed to convert, and then dropped me into Vista, looking at that same window. Probably the converter too was pressing that button and still getting the same window appearing back at it! So smartly... it gave up after a while. It seems like the thing that wasn't installed, was the parallels networking driver! My Vista can't get onto the internet even. Folder sharing, all of that. Doesn't work.

On the linux thing.... parallels won't even start up now. It can't find the screen or something like that. :( It used to work just fine in Parallels 3.0. I had everything working, even shared folders! (via samba)

Windows XP converted just fine. It's faster and the graphics are better. Oh well, 1 out of 3 :(

I really need all 3 to work. Seriously, this just isn't right. How can I get these working again?

You can see my parallels about box there. It says: Build 4.0.3522 (Nov 8, 2008)

"Check for updates" also tells me that the app is already up to date.

Ideas anyone?? Please help, this is serious.

Looks like you can workaround both problems.

For Vista VM, you should click "Install this driver software anyway" in such messages (there will be 5 or so of them).

    For Linux VM,
    1. boot it
    2. after you see console, go to Virtual Machine menu and select "Install Parallels Tools"
    3. In VM, issue the following command: "sudo sh /media/cdrom/install"
Once Parallels Tools installed, you should have X server started

OK, well this DID solve the problem with Vista. Apparantly it wasn't an infinite loop, I just had to press "install anyhow", seven times. Seven is a lot considering there is no feedback to show that the next is any different than the last...

As for Linux, it didn't even accept any commands. So no solution there.

For what it's worth, I did FINALLY get this installed.

But it wasn't as easy as suggested.

    1) I couldn't actually type anything. I googled this, and found I needed to enter ctl+alt+f1. Thankfully Parallels has this in the "send keys" menu.

    2) Once I was in there... it asked me to login! Thankfully, I remembered my username and password, but I was unsure of what to do. if I had forgotten, I've no idea what I wold do :(

    3) Next, the instructions to sudo sh /blablabla as above, didn't work :( Because the image was not connected even after doing "install parallels tools". I had to manually go "mount /dev/cdrom". or was it sudo mount /dev/cdrom? I can't remmeber now.

    4) Now I could SEE the files, but I couldn't even access them!! Some stupid permissions problem. So I had to copy the files. And that was a pain as I had to do something like "cp -RH /cdrom/install /wtf/install" (and sudo mkdir the wtf folder first).

    5) After that, it was installed. And it ran properly. I can now see my graphical linux.

But it was not easy getting there at all.
