Hi, Let me start by saying that, yes, I know it's *ancient*, and while I have purchased a license for a newer version, I do not have enough space for the necessary conversion of my virtual hard disk if I install the upgrade, so I am stuck at 4.0.3848 for the moment. My current economic situation prevents the purchase of enough space to do the conversion. My question is this. My Mac OS is stuck at 10.6.4 currently, because, when 10.6.5 was released, I read somewhere that there were problems between Parallels 4 and Mac OS 10.6.5 (I don't recall the specifics). They were supposedly resolved in Parallels 5.0, but I could not install it for the same reason as above. This scared me, so I have not updated my Mac OS since then. Now, we have 10.6.8. I'd dearly love to upgrade, as it's preventing me from running other software. But, I don't want to install 10.6.8 and find I can no longer use my Parallels 4.0. What I don't remember is whether 4.0.3848 was already current when 10.6.5 came out, or if 4.0.3848 may actually have fixed the problem that I read about. Can anyone tell me whether Parallels 4.0.3848 works fine under 10.6.8? Thanks!
Hi, I'm sorry to say but Parallels Desktop 4 will not work on 10.6 OS. If you cannot replace Mac Hard Drive for now, I'd suggest to copy your VM to external drive and run it from there. It will also give you more space on the native drive and you'll be able to upgrade your host OS to 10.8 (if your hardware supports it) and Parallels Desktop to version 8. Just in case you need more info about Parallels 4, here is its user guide: http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v4/docs/en/Parallels_Desktop_Users_Guide.pdf
