I'd like to set up "Open With" the way I want. Could someone help me? 1. I'd like to click on a link in my Windows newsreader within a Parallels VM, and have it open Firefox for OS-X, not Firefox for Window. 2. I'd like to remove a Windows program from the OS-X "Open With" menu. 3. I'd like to add a Windows program with the OS-X drop down menu.
If it is Outlook Express it is not possible if it is another custom it is possible, use Parallels Desktop _preferences and select default application for Web Pages Delete Windows Applications folder from Virtual Machine folder Not sure I can understand this
The application I'm most interested in is Forte Agent. Although I opened up a .html document telling it to always use the OS-X Firefox to open it - but that command didn't take.
I right clicked a HTML document, selected "Open With" and then "Choose Program". I found the OS X version of Parallels, and checked the Always Open with this application box, and opened the document in OS X. Then I closed the document and double clicked that HTML document. It opened the document with Firefox for Windows.
This is common mistake, You need to perform action from Parallels side and say Mac OS to use another software for html file, Applications -Edit -Firefox, in this case Parallels tells Mac how to manage files
I don't understand. My .HTML document was in Windows (The Parallels side). I don't know how to "say Mac OS to use another software for html file, Applications -Edit -Firefox". I guess I'm dense, but I'm not figuring this out. I see that on the Parallels side, some of the Windows applications created by Parallels point to the OS X applications.
I see a greyed out "smart select/Edit" option, but don't know what to do to select it from the Parallels/Applications menu.
Check that smart select is enabled in Configuration Edit- Shared Applications Also check that in Parallels Desktop - preferences-General-SHared Web applications- Web pages - select Open in Mac OS
