    Hello,

I was trying to play an old DOS game I wrote back in the day on my XP VM. In Coherence mode the game runs, but only the parts of the screen that were covered in windows before the app tries to switch to full-screen mode are visible.

So that you can test it, I've uploaded th game (and source-code to it) to my university account. It can be downloaded at this location. (self-extracting exe). The game is covered by the GPL license.

I'm sure other DOS games will have the same problem...

Even if it's a virus/trojan, a closed (i.e. internet connection disabled) VM should be okay. To test, one could clone the VM, and then disable the ethernet connection on the clone. Then run the program inside the clone.

Anyhow, if it's a DOS program we're concerned about, would DOSbox be more suited for the job?

The problem is still here... in 4072.

I've posted here enough that I wouldn't post a virus. I wrote the game so I think I would know if it had a virus in it. Here is the same thing in a plain old zip file (with sourcecode).

Any full-screen dos mode app (as far as I can tell) has the same problem.

    This is running in XP.

Dosbox might be a better app for this, but it has no dependencies on any dos libraries... so it should work. It works on real-hardware XP machines...
