I still have problems with Parallels. Is there nobody who know how to configure OS X Firewall?

I use W2k in Parallels with Host-Networking. When I enable Inet Sharing and firewall I cannot use Outlook and Exchange!

Can you surf the net at all or is it localized to email? I am using XP w/ Outlook 2K3 to connect to an Exchange server over a VPN. Can you provide more details?

When I start Web Sharing I'm able to surf in IE but I don't know the firewall ports for outlook / exchange! If my firewall is active outlook fails to connect to the exchange server.

Do you know the os x firewall settings for outlook / exchange? Thanks a lot

    Robert

My bad on your other post. I did not pay attention to what you had written in full since it started out by saying no Internet access and I assumed you meant at all. If your Exchange server is local on the LAN, then you may try ports 25 for SMTP and 110 for POP (doubtful). It may require port 389 for Active Directory or the IMAP port (probably). Your Exchange admin can tell you what services/ports you need opened as they have some flexibility when they setup the server.

You can also try turning on the firewall, but leave all the default rules turned off (Allow). If it works, then turn one off and try again, and then again. If it doesn't work with all the default rules turned off, then you know it is one or many custom ports that need to be set. Again, your company Exchange and Network Admins will be the best resources here.

I am using bridged ethernet with Mac OS X firewall -- I enabled Windows Sharing services and opened those ports up, and it seems to be working here. Try that.

Open /var/log/ipfw.log and see what is being blocked by the firewall, then add a new policy (as necessary) to allow the traffic. If the log is not populated, open System Prefs -> Sharing -> Firewall. Click Advanced, then choose 'Enable Firewall Logging', then click Open Log to start monitoring.
