Is it possible to turn automatically turn off the time machine while any virtual machines are running?

It slows down the virtual machine dramatically and the system overall.
I have this VM on an external harddrive and when it backsup from this HD, because it slows down the VM.

I did find a dashboard utility for easy access and turning on/off the TM but I was wondering if PD could be set to turn off Time Machine when VMs are started.

Time Machine will slow you down, but it should not be dramatically.
did you exclude your VM's from the Time Machine ??
how much memory does your Mac have ??

Nope, I would like it to be included but not while I am using the VM.

Not enough :D 2GB - 1GB for my VM and 1GB for my Mac. The problem I am having is the hard drive access, because it's doing backups while I am using my VM on the same harddrive and that slows my PC. When no backup is running the performance is OK.

I will have to keep turning on/off TM or exclude the VM. Thats an alternative.
