I have no sound in my Parallels 4.0 for Windows XP. Specs: Model Name: MacBook Model Identifier: MacBook4,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 800 MHz SMC Version: 1.31f0 Sudden Motion Sensor: State: Enabled I cannot find my sound card drivers.
Check if Sound item is presented under Configure menu of virtual machine. If yes then make sure that it is enabled and connected. Then try manually install AC97 drivers in Windows -- go here and choose "Windows 98Gold/98se/Me/2000/XP/2003(32/64 bits) for Driver only. For Windows 98 SE, DirectX(R)8 is required to enable advanced features. (Executable file)" file. If it does not help reinstall Parallels Tools. If this does not help too, let me know the sound configuration on Mac side -- is built-in chosen for output and input?
So close Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the driver, and Windows did recognize it, but all the sounds are distorted. My sound configuration is chosen for built-in on both Input and Output
Try deleting the Sound controller from the Configure menu, then start Windows and delete the device from the Device manager on Windows side (right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware), uninstall Parallels Tools, shutdown the virtual machine, add Sound once again, start Windows and install Parallels Tools -- if necessary install the AC97 driver manually once again
