Problem: no sound on VM (My Boot Camp VM, Windows 7)

    Hardware:
Model Name: iMac 27 (late 2009)
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 4 GB

    Software:
    Mac OS X 10.6.5 (10H574)
Windows 7 Home Premium installed on Bootcamp partition
Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac build 5.0.9376

The above system (hardware and software) worked well for a few months (Bootcamp 3.1).

Recently I downloaded and installed Bootcamp 3.2 - a recommended update by Apple. Windows 7 on Bootcamp seems to work well - no problem has been identified so far. Windows 7 on My Boot Camp Virtual Machine works as well BUT with no sound at all.

Its not clear to me whether the update can be blamed for the problem but something got changed and so far I have not been able to identify the problem.

I tried to create a new VM but the problem was still there.

Windows 7 Device Manager (natively on Bootcamp - this works fine no problem with sound) shows under Sound, video and game controllers the following:

    > Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 79)
    > High Definition Audio Device

Windows 7 Device Manager (My Boot Camp VM - no sound at all) shows:

    > AMD-8111AC97 Audio Controller Driver

There is an obvious difference but I am not able to tell whether or not this might be causing the problem.

If you have a similar system and no problem with sound could you please check whether your Device Manager shows the same.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions.
