When attempting to launch Real Flight 3.5, I am greeted with a dialog saying:

Your video card is not able to render 3D images.

Is there any hope that I will be able to use Parallels for this application in the future, or did I just waste another $40 bucks?

Have you enabled DirectX in the VM video config options screen? I'm not saying that will make it work to your satisfaction, but it won't work at all without it.

    Alan,

Thanks. I did not know about enabling DirectX. I did and while I got further in launching Real Flight 3.5, it crashed while loading with an unexpected error has occurred. So I am still at a loss as to what I can do.
