I do ASP.NET development in a Windows 10 guest against files are that stored in the host Mac and accessed via Shared Folders (Z:\ drive \\mac network share). Since Parallels 12 this has become unusable as when I edit a file in Visual Studio, IIS Express doesn't recompile the aspx/cshtml files as it apparently hasn't been notified that the files have changed. This can be reproduced simply by running the free Folder Changes View utilty from NirSoft (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/folder_changes_view.html) on the guest, monitoring a directory and changing a file in there.
Interestingly you will sometimes get a filename change of "prl_fs: buggy apps exceed buffers" - which has been reported in this thread from a few years ago, which may give your devs a clue as to what is going on.

Problem Report ID: 121701004 -- details below:
    Expected behaviour:
Shared folders (i.e. \\psf \\mac drives) should generate Win32 File Change Notifications for software that relies on this.
    Actual Behaviour:
No File Change Notifications are generated by file changes in Parallels Shared Folders.
    To reproduce:
In the Windows guest use a utility such as Folder Changes View (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/folder_changes_view.html) to monitor the \\Mac file share, and change some files: note that the only single change that occurs is of a non-existent file called "prl_fs: buggy apps exceed buffers"
