Ok - I got my 'first' Parallels Virtual Machine installed (Windows 2003 Standard) - it was very easy and it is running GREAT! However, I can't seem to figure out how to get the Virtual Machine to connect to the internet. I show that I am connected to my 'LAN' however something is blocking me pinging anything on the network and also preventing me from getting to any sites such as google, etc. Please tell me what I may be missing??? Susan
Thank you for the reply so quickly - However i did try these steps without success - I feel this is a slightly different issue since it does 'not' recognize that the network adapter exists. In device manager there are question marks for 'ethernet controller' on the guest windows 2008 os thanks for any assistance you might provide.
I just posted a reply as I thought you were replying to another thread I have discussing a windows 2008 install that reports 'network adapter 'not' found'
Probably the driver got corrupted. While VM is stopped remove Network Adapter 1 from VM configuration editor with Remove ('-'), then add it once again with Add ('+') button. Then launch Windows and in cmd (Start -> Run -> type cmd) type ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
I just tried this and then when I start the windows 2008 IT states 'found new hardware - ethernet controller' and it states I don't have the disk search for other options. Please advise.
