I am thinking of installing Parallels onto a new IMac only to use Quicken for Windows. I will be going online occasionally to do online banking. This is the only time I envision using the Windows portion of my computer. I use Zone Alarm currently on my PC but have read of some compatability problems on this forum with Convergence. Can I get away without a firewall, virus, & spyware for the PC? Thank you.

Well, yes and no. If you only use it for Quicken for banking just set-up the computer to not have access to the internet and the few times you do, just toggle on the networking and use ONLY banking... As long as you don't put on infected files you should be fine.

using the Xp built in firewall should be sufficient for your requirements. avast! antivirus runs fine in my vm.

I run Quicken for Windows under XP.

Currently I am relying on my wireless router as the only firewall. I do run antivirus sw. I use AVG Free edition.

I am not running a spyware detector, but I may add one if I start using the XP browser more often.
