What is the purpose of shared folders. I am using 3188 on OS 10.4.9. The shared folder that was installed by default and is visible on my xp desktop shows the entire contents of my OSX user folder. Should I have a corresponding shared folder on OSX or is th entire users folder the shared folder? Is this how shared folders are to work, I can an able to see my OSX users folder on XP? What is the advantage over drag & drop?

    Thanks for the basic question!

what you have is networked folders on the macintosh

to test this make a new txt file in it with a findable name like
ferdoot and save it on the mac desktop(which is just another folder)
and delete it on the mac

    2)
in a windows browser you can go into the Mac File system

    \\.PSF\Mac desktop\sitemap.html

is an old file of mine.

    3)
If you are a webmaster you can create new html files on the mac and check them out in MS IE 7

    4)
In my opinion it is best NEVER to save work on a Virtual Machine
    but on the mac
    or an external hard disk
which the WInXP willl see as just another folder after you use:-

    5)
Mac OS Menu bar >> PD >> Devices >> Shared folders >> add

    6)
not saving work in the VM helps keep it small and efficient
