    I've been a Windows user for longer than I care to remember. Recently I have converted to Mac Pro and I must say I've been tremendously satisfied. I heard about virtual machines and opted to buy VM Fusion. This turned out to be a disaster. There really wasn't much in the way of support so rather than becoming frustrated beyond where I was I bought Parallels. The system has been working perfectly until recently. About two days ago I began experiencing hang ups in Windows. The system simply hangs and will show [NOT RESPONDING]. Strange as it may seem I have not installed new software in either Windows XP or Mac O/S 10.5. I have masses of RAM on the Mac [14GB].

    Can anyone, based on the minimal information provide some direction to resolution of the problem. Let me know what other information is needed.

    Many thanks in advance for any and all help.

    The first place to look is

    * /Library/Parallels/bugreports/
    or ~/Library/Parallels/bugreports/

    * /Library/Logs/panic.log
    or ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Parallels.crash.log from the Mac side;

    and also system.log from Console.app

    Finder -Library
    Finder -Users-username-Library
    There are logs for Parallels crash etc, please check what is in them

    John sorry for the delay in getting back to you with the log information.

    I checked the log this morning and here is the last entry which is similar to previous entries.

    [08.08.2008]-[04:52:10.262]: find_bsd_win_parts: Win partition disk2s1 is not removable

    Does this in any way help you with the diagnosis?

    Hope to hear from you soon.

    Hope, these messages are showing Boot Camp partition is mounting
    May be you are running some software, while this occurs

    The mysteries of the Desktop

    For some inexplicable reason Parallels has fixed itself. Maybe that's a built in feature. Anyway John everything is working well. In fact Windows XP has never worked better even on my old Windows O/S box.

    Thanks for your help..
