Networking woes

I am trying to use Parallels 4 on a new Macbook Pro and am finding a networking problem.
I am struggling to make my XP Pro Parallels Virtual window see the other computers on my Network. The finder window on my Mac shows both of the computers correctly which are on my MSHOME network but does not show the virtual machine. The Entire Network>Microsoft Windows Network on the Virtual Machine just shows the shared contents of the local virtual Parallels shared folders, again this is set to the MSHOME network name.

My idea is to use the Windows File and Transfer program to move the settings and files from my old XP machine to the Parallels virtual XP machine that I have set up and then move to the coherence mode so I can gradually move over to MAC programs. However if I cannot see the old machine from the virtual machine I am stuck.

I have looked at the FAQ and I am sure there is a simple solution, unfortunately I cannot work it out.
