    A couple of quick questions.

What EXACTLY is the function of the "connect mac to this network" configuration option for both Shared and Host Only networks?

Is there any way to create a VM that only has access to the internet, not to the host Mac or any other physical machines on the network? If necessary I can exclude access to machines on my network by setting up a VLAN, but it seems that if the internet is accessible so is the host Mac, and if the host Mac isn't accessible neither is the internet.

    Thanks,
    John

    Hello John,
You can set your VM to the Bridged network mode, but your virtual machine will appear as a separate computer that belongs to the same subnet as the Mac it is running on.
You will not be able to connect your VM to the network without network connection on the Mac side
Please check this KB article for more information and let us know if you have any additional questions.
