I'm running Workstation on a new MacBook Pro, 2gb ram, 100 gb hd, 2.16 mhz, XP Pro. The wireless connection on OS X always works. The internet connection on XP Pro only works over some wireless networks. For instance, it works great on my unsecure home network (Linksys wireless router), but it does not work at the coffee shop down the street (also unsecure). I assume this is a firewall issue, although it seems to me that the XP side should bridge the network and work with any unsecure wireless network -- especially if Airport is picking it up just fine. Suggestions?
I had a similar problem at Starbucks. I believe that bridged networking creates two MAC addresses which means that it appears that you are using two network cards and hence two computers on just one account. You need to use host-only networking with network sharing in Mac OS X. There are some threads on this forum as to how to go about this. John
