I have an application for Windows. Data is stored on a server on a local area network. Each computer has a client application installed which interacts across the network to the server to obtain the data, modify it accordingly, and then save the results to the server. To do this I simply need a network connection from the local computer to the server. My clients have asked if we can use a MacBook as a workstation ( running the client software ). Before I invest in the computer and Parallels, I want to know if this program will support a windows application, running in coherence mode, across a network. Normally this is a very simple question answered by the sales department. Sadly, I had to call the company operator who routed me to an outsourced support team, and communication difficulties thus made it difficult to have my question understood. I hope someone here will be able to provide me with an answer. Also, I'd like to look at the documentation that explains the setup for this, so if someone can point me to the right resource I would appreciate the assistance. I'm having problems accessing the Knowledge Base because of that security code ... its a challenge for those of us with a red green color deficiency. Thanks so much
This should work with no difficulties. You just need to install Windows OS into the virtual machine and set it to Bridged Network Mode. Using this mode your virtual machine will have it's unique IP address and can be connected to the server directly as a usual PC. http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v7/update3/docs/en/Parallels Desktop User's Guide/ please read more about the Bridged network in our User guide.
