Hi there I have the following extra drives showing on my intel Imac, which I don't think where there when I installed Parallels. I am using Windows xp on OS 10.4.11. I may have changed something to make the following now appear I do not know? My Hard drive looks like this:- My computer Floppy Local Disk C: Dvd Drive Cd Drive Network Drive (X) This one - whey are they appearing now when they did not appear on installation? I don't think? Network drive (Y) This one .Mac on '.psf' (Z) and This one Shared documents Noddies documents Am I able to ask what the Network and Mac ones mean. I think the .Mac is the sharing between Parallels and the OS system but I do not know what the others are. I have not networked the system that I know of. I have profiles for:- Administration Noddie I had to make a seperate one for myself as the Admin one became corrupted. Initially 'My Pictures' which was used to be part of 'My documents' is now showing in Noddie's Documents. So I have My Documents - finishing at My Music - No longer with My Pictures in it Shared Documents - My Documents off this also and a repeat of what is in 'My Documents' main. Noddies Documents - with My Pictures etc off this. I have not moved any of the folders so why would they suddenly appear somewhere else other than the original location. I also have under the items listed above:- My Network Place Entire Network .Mac on .psf My Web sites on MSN - which I never use. As you can see I am a little confused about why:- (A) have all the double ups of my documents and (b) why do I have the networking items that are listed. (c) Is it because I have 'shared' or mapping in use. I can drag and drop files which I have always done, and by changing any of the above would that interfer with these capabilities. In general I do not know how to share files with the 2 operating systems the main feature I use is the printing capabilities and I even have difficulty getting this to work. Hope someone might be kind enough to explain some of the above questions for me and send me on my way to fully understand what is going on and even help with this if possible. Regards
Hi and thank you very much for your email in response to my question. I just wanted to check that if I uncheck the shared folders (in windows?) that this will not cause any problems? I cannot get to grips with using shared folders as I cannot see them appearing on the Mac side., even though I have shared folders ticked on on the windows side. Something I have not done obviously. Or a senior moment. Thanks again Gwen
Please refer to Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf on page 207 about shared folders
Thank you heaps for that. Funny page 207 in my book did not bring up Shared folders. Appreciate your time with this Regards Gwen
