I'm using the new Parallels 3.0 and I remember back in the 2.5 days I could resize the Windows partition by using gParted http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2007/01/9404/ or Parallels ImageTools. I also tried adding another HDD, but it won't recognize it. Well, Parallels ImageTools is unusually absent from 3.0 and I followed the gParted instructions and Windows won't boot the CD before starting. Could someone shed some light on the new way to do it in 3.0? Or do I need to create a new Windows VM?
The ImageTool was removed from the Parallels Desktop release due to a numerous problems our customers have experienced with increasing VM hard disk drives and its incompatibility with new VM hard disk drives using the Snapshot technology. We are going to deliver VM HDD resizing solution with the next updates, please excuse us for any inconvenience caused. You can still make more free hard drive space available for the Guest OS by adding one more HDD to the VM configuration (Edit - Virtual Machine - Add - Hard Disk), then just partition and format you new HDD in the VM. For example, in Windows XP it can be done from Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Storage - Disk Management.
