Need BASH shutdwon command

Dear Developers,

I am running Parallels for Linux workstation 2.2-2112. From Linux's crontab, I need
to backup my virtual machine's Windows WP Pro hdd file with parallels "off".
And, I need to do it from a script file running under bash (unattended).

What is the bash code I need to tell parallels to do a graceful shutdown of a running
incidence of Windows WP Pro and then to terminate itself?

Unfortunately Parallels Workstation do not have support for scripting language.
