I have a version of windows 2003 server that I installed on the mac version of parallels. My mac is going in for service so I copied the image to a windows machine.

I started the virtual machine up and noticed it only supported 24bit color.

so i reinstalled the parallels tools...no help. i tried to uninstall the tools...no good, it failed on remove of the video driver. it uninstalled everything else so i rebooted and re-installed the tools. still no 32 bit.

any suggestions? i really need this thing working full strength...

    thanks.

2.1 (build 1670). its the one that is downloadable from the main downloads for windows and it says there aren't any updates.

looking at the driver, it appears to only use 6mb and doesn't have any modes listed with 32bit.

is the windows version less capable than the mac version? how do i get 32bit color?

i installed RC2 and it fixed my issue.

--- note: had to install tools "blind" since the resolution was at 1280x800 and RC2 gave me a fuzzed out impossible to read screen.....good thing i know how to go through the wizard from memory using the keyboard because otherwise it was toast.

I wanted to recommend you to update, but you already fixed all the problems. :) Thanks for note, we'll check it here.

i did try to install from safe mode, but parallels kept giving me a 'restart' message. can you install from safe mode or not?
