Move Win7 VM to Boot Camp?

    Hi all,

I have been running Parallel Desktops with a Win7 VM and a virtual HD under both 4.0 and 5.0 for a while. I have 4GB of RAM on a new MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo). I've devoted 1GB of memory to the VM.

I am not dissatisfied with the performance, but it's obviously not high speed. I'm considering a couple of options: upgrade the memory and continue to run a VHD, or move the VHD (if possible) to a Boot Camp partition, and use Boot Camp when I want high speed operations (I'm thinking of starting some of the latest gaming).

Reading over the forums it doesn't seem trivial to setup and run a VM with a Boot Camp partition (specifically multiple hardware profiles). So here are some questions:

    - Is it easily possible to move the VHD to a Boot Camp partition? (I assume I could mount it as a disk drive and then use partition copy software to move it then destroy the VM's HD and recreate the VM with the Boot Camp partition but this doesn't seem trivial)

    - Obviously running Win7 through Boot Camp will be the fastest way of running the O/S, but if I upped the memory of the VM to 4GB (by upgrading the MacBook to 8GB) would the performance be high speed enough for most modern games or other processor intensive tasks?

Also, general observations about using the Boot Camp Partition through a VM is appreciated. I am a very happy relatively new Mac user recovering from decades of being primarily a Windows user.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dion
