Running a Win 2K3 Standard guest OS, the mouse driver is more or less non-functional. The mouse skips a lot and refuses to get to some sections of the screen.

The virtual machine is in every other way very functional. Using keyboard access I can get to and run lots of stuff and thing are quite speedy. Nothing pegging the CPU, and memory usage is very reasonable (bootup it's using 140M of the 1G of RAM I gave to the VM). The mouse works great inside of OS X. I didn't see any of these kinds of issues with beta 4 or 5.

Host is a 2 GHz 20" iMac w/ 2GB of RAM and upgraded video RAM. I'm using the Apple bluetooth keyboard and a Microsoft wireless mouse.

    Additional data point:

The problem seems to be limited to full screen mode (which is how I always run). I just checked in windowed mode, and the problem is gone, although mouse performance is less than ideal in this mode; it feels somewhat sluggish like the mouse acts before the Parallels tools are installed. BTW, I did check to make sure Windows was using the Parallels mouse driver, and it is, and I am running the tools from Beta 6. If it matters, I'm running Parallels on my secondary monitor, a Dell 2001FP which is rotated 90 degrees for a resolution of 1200x1600.

I have noticed a mouse problem as well. The problem creates a visual offset of the actual mouse position. That is, the mouse appears to "jump" to another location but the actual location is the position just before the mouse appeared to jump. This problem is reproduceable as follows:

Run MS Outlook in the VM
    Select Calendar mode
In the left pane where the month is shown, mouse over one of the days in the middle of the month. The mouse stays as the default left pointing arrow.
Now, move the mouse to the left slowly along the same week until you reach the left margin (white space in front of the "Sunday" column). The mouse should change to a right pointing arrow. Note however, that the mouse suddenly jumps right 1 column and up two rows. If you click the left mouse button, it behaves as if the mouse is in the position of the left margin.

Is there any way to fix this? I've notice similar problems in MS Word.

Jumpy mouse when Cursor Image changes - and I guess why

I see the very same problems as well with MS Word and Note Tab Light, in Beta6 and RC1.

It seems to be a Parallels Tools problem. With Tools uninstalled, the mouse works ok.

I have a strong guess what could be the problem: It happens when the mouse cursor changes to another image that has the hot spot (the tip of the arrow) at another position in the cursor image.

The normal left-pointing arrow has its hot spot at the top right of the cursor image. Most other standard cursors have it there (or only a few pixels offset) as well, so the effect is not clearly visible - but for example the mouse feels a bit jumpy at the switch between arrow and insertion point cursor in word processors.

The right-pointing arrow however (as used e.g. in Word at the left edge of the document as a paragraph selector) has the hot spot at the top left of the cursor image, which is about 30 pixels away from the "normal" hot spot. So the visible cursor takes a jump of 30 pixels whenever the image changes.

I think that the current Parallels Mouse Synchronisation driver does not take the hot spot offset within the cursor image into account. I wonder if my guess is correct and maybe useful for you at Parallels - and I hope for a fix in RC2 :)

It works perfectly in RC2 now!

Great! The mouse hotspot problem is gone in RC2!

    Thanks a lot!
