I consistently get this error message when I try to launch Parallels: The only way to work around this is to trash the existing copy and install a fresh copy of the application. This is the sequence of events to reproduce: 1. Install a fresh copy (I already have a disk image installed and ready). 2. Launch, use the application, everything's cool. 3. At some point I reboot my system 4. When I try to launch Parallels now, I get the above error. 5. Repeat at #1. Anyone else seeing this issue? The only thing I can think of is that the Parallels application doesn't like being moved from the top level Applications folder, but I haven't tested that hypothesis yet. Neil
Parallels application must be on top of /Applications/ directory, otherwise drivers can't be started and Parallels Workstation can't work.
For those of us who like to organize our applications into sub-folders (Games, Internet, Media, etc.), requiring Parallels Workstation to remain in /Applications is definitely a limitation. While I would not call it a "bug", I don't see a technical reason why "/Applications" is hard-coded into the program itself. Here is a request that this limitation be removed in a future version.
