First of all - Parallels is great software. However I think that RC1 has broken two important (essential for me) things: 1) Keyboard map: In an attempt to mimick AltGR, RC1 now maps Mac Alt key to Win Alt+Ctrl (=AltGR). This completely breaks the possibility to actually use Alt in Windows and makes RC nearly unusable. 2) Global Mac OS hotkeys: In beta6, System wide Mac OS X shortcuts (such as Apple-TAB to switch apps, Expose, Dashboard etc.) were functional while Parallels was in foreground. In RC1, this does not work any more. PLEASE add an option to enable system-wide global keys again. To investigate further, I wrote a simple win app to show me which modifiers are active (www.hardturm.ch/keycodedisp.zip in case you are interested). So I also noticed that Parallels does not distinguish Left and Right Shift/Ctrl/Cmd/Alt. Why? I see no reason for this. Mac OS X can distinguish them (see Expose hotkey settings for example). Some software needs to distinguish left and right keys! Bottom line: The needs for modifier key mapping varies a lot depending on guest OS (or palette of Guest OSes for cross-platform workers like me). I think there will be never one fit-all solution, so IMHO, Parallels should not make hard-coded assumption on modifier key usage (like it does now with Alt -> AltGR or RightShift -> LeftShift) Please add an editable mapping table (separate for Right and Left Shift/Alt/Ctrl/Cmd). This table would be populated with useful defaults depending on the Guest OS setting at VM creation for beginners, but then allow any needed re-mapping. BTW: The way how to mimick a right mouse button click should also be fully configurable. Just moving it from Ctrl (beta6) to Shift-Ctrl (RC1) might fix it for some people, but create new problems for others. I'd by happy with some lines to edit in the .pvs - no need for a complicated GUI (altough it'll be nice).
