I using my first Mac after a long, long time with Windows/DOS. I am getting ready for a new Mac and need some direction on transferring stuff from the old Mac to the new Mac. Actually I want to copy from a MacBook Pro to an iMac. My intention is to keep the MBP as a notebook for traveling. My reading suggests Apple's Migration Assistant will do the job at moving Apple stuff. I have read in this forum that Migration Assistant does not move my 24GB Windows7.pvm file. But I understand how to move that file via FireWire. I am current with all updates for Parallels, OSX and Win7. I have iTunes authorization of my MBP, an Apple Airport Extreme, use TimeMachine for Backups, have a bootable clone (SuperDuper) and a LAN with a Windows Machine (my wife). Old Machine: MacBook Pro 2.66GHz Core Duo; 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD New Machine: iMac 27" 2.7 GHz Quad i5; 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD In addition to any general advise and suggestions, I have these questions: #1 My approach would be use Migration Assistant. Test everything on the Mac side. Finally copy/move the PVM file. #2 When people go to a different piece of Apple hardware, does these create problems/issues with the Windows Registration? Thank you and have a nice day. Gordon Atlanta
