I have an XP VM running on my MacBook Pro that needs migrating to a Windows box. The VM on the MacBook is under Parallels 2 and the Windows box will have Parallels 3 installed. Is it possible to move a VM from one OS to another or are the file formats incompatible? Do I simply copy the hdd file from the Mac to the PC and open in Parallels or do I need to use the Transporter tool? <confused>
Sorry, don't think I made it clear - I want to transfer a VM from Parallels 2.0 on OSX to Parallels 3.0 on XP. Do I really need a third party solution or can't I just copy the hdd file?
Oh. Is there Parallels 3.0 for Windows XP? Sorry, but once you leave running Parallels on OS X I am quite clueless.
My bad - looks like the latest version of Parallels Workstation for Windows is 2.2. Anyway, success! I cloned the VM; copied the hdd and pvs files to the PC; installed Parallels on the PC and opened the hdd file. Had to reinstall Parallels tools to get the video drivers but everything seems to be working fine.
