I'm currently in need of a being able to run some Windows only programs (specifically Microsoft Developer 2008 (maybe Studio or just Web), but also live on a Mac for some specific reasons as well. So, I need to make a proposal to my bosses to requisition a Mac Pro with Parallels 4.0 configured to do this. From what I've seen on these forums and by searching the Internet, Parallels seems to be able run Visual Studio and Developer fine, although I've seen some possible problems with file placement (or local site hosting) for sharing between the 2 OS's. Can anyone speak to this specifically and provide and caveats, gotchas, workarounds, etc? I don't know JACK about Visual Developer/Studio as I've been a Mac only user now for 4.5 years so I don't know how it's supposed to behave or work normally, let alone in a VM. Thanks in advance everyone. Anthony C.
I think your best bet is to just get the software, install it with a trial key and see for yourself what works and what doesn't, then get back here and ask any specific questions that will pop up (if any). The .dmg package can be had here: http://download.parallels.com/deskt...hotfix1/Parallels-Desktop-4.0.3540.209168.dmg. The trial key here: http://www.parallels.com/download/trial/desktop/ Hope that helps.
