    Moved from "How to"

I have a MacBook Pro with Parallels Desktop (build 3188 the latest) and WinXP.
    Two problems:

I have 1.25GB memory but the recommended memory allocation on the configuration dialogue box says I am allowed 144MB otherwise .... I need to have at least 512MB to work with XP for a statistical software. I checked various postings on Parallels forums but I am not able to solve this isuue.

My Mac has a DVD writer but XP recognises it only as a CDROM. How do I enable DVD writing or at least CD writing?

    Please help.

How about... Getting more RAM? 1.25 GB is grossly less than what you want. Two matched 1 GB DIMMs work great. You can always try upping the RAM allocation despite Parallels' warning.

    Thanks

    :)

Thanks. I was probably looking for an easier (imparctical solution) solution. I will go for 2GB.

I've had 1 GB work once, and only once, on a computer that used VERY low RAM intensive programs. If I tried doing anything that needed more RAM it lagged.
