I have done a dumb thing for new years! I tried cleaning up my hard drive and accidentally threw the parallels folder into the trash. Here's what happened and hopefully someone can help??

I threw the parallels folder into the trash while vista was running. When I started to empty the trash a notice came up stating that something could not be trashed because it was running and I recognized it as a parallels item. I stopped the trash from dumping and pulled the parallels folder back into it's original home. I still see all of the icons I had previously. There is a .mem, .pvs, .sav, .fdd, an applications folder with all of the applications inside, a disks folder with a c drive and a .hdd file. I quit vista and prayed as I rebooted without success. It tells me there has been a major crash and asks for the original vista discs to repair it.

My questions is, if I allow vista to repair using the original discs will I loose all the applications, setups and files on the original setup I had 15min ago?

How dumb and I, after you stop laughing at my new years blunder, please provide input on how I might be able to save what was previously built? I had a lot of programs and files on this setup...

First of all backup all files you find related to VM,
Create new VM, and try to add existing hdd file, and chack can you start VM.
Having backup , makes it safe to attempt Vista repair attempt
