    UPDATED FOR TRIPLE-MONITOR SETUP

Running Parallels for Mac 8 in Coherence mode on Mavericks, with Windows 7 as my VM OS, on mid-2012 MacBook Pro Retina. Under System Preferences...Display, resolution is set to Best for Monitor.

Problem use case 1 (Primary monitor = MBP Retina, Secondary monitor = external 1280x1024 display):
    1. Open a Windows application (I have tested Outlook 2010, Excel 2010, Notepad and Internet Explorer 10)
    2. Ensure the Windows application is on the primary display
    3. Maximize the application window
    4. Result: title bar disappears / is hidden and several controls cannot, therefore, be accessed

Problem use case 2 (Primary monitor = external 1920x1280 display, Secondary monitor = MBP Retina, Tertiary monitor = external 1280x1024 display):
    1. Open a Windows application (I have tested Outlook 2010, Excel 2010, Notepad and Internet Explorer 10)
    2. Ensure the Windows application is on the primary display OR secondary (MBP) display
    3. Maximize the application window
    4. Result: title bar disappears / is hidden and several controls cannot, therefore, be accessed

In use case 1, this does NOT happen on secondary monitor; when maximized, the title bar and controls DO appear properly.
In use case 2, this does NOT happen on tertiary monitor; when maximized, the title bar and controls DO appear properly.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

No minimise, maximise or close box on windows app

I hadn't noticed that the minimise, maximise and close window icons remained on the other screen.

I am having the same issues as you and have gone through just about every setting imaginable.

I'll watch this thread with interest

I had a remote customer support session with Parallels Support last night.
    They verified this was happening.
They then verified that the Virtual Machine...Configure settings were configured properly (Coherence: Allow applications to switch to full screen checked, and Full Screen: Use Mac OS X Full Screen checked).
They then uninstalled & reinstalled Parallels Tools. No effect, same behavior.
(And BTW, the Full Screen seems odd to me, as I believe those are both related to Windows applications being able not to maximize, but rather to go full-screen like native OS X apps. But whatever.)
I've been referred to a level 2 tech, and will post updates.

Did you ever get this taken care of? Same issue.

    No.
    Sorry for not posting updates!
Level 2 tech support was a total failure.
First, they never contacted me -- I waited and then reached out to them.
When they finally called, I was busy and couldn't spend time with them.
Instead of rescheduling, they simply sent me an email saying, essentially, they had no idea what to do and it was kicked over to engineering, to be addressed in a later release.
Obviously, THAT never happened, and it's been 2 months.
Through this and one prior incident, I have found Parallels to be very courteous, but not able to help. It always seems to be a bug, not a configuration or environment problem that can be addressed by the user.

    Here's the email:

    Hello Mark,

    Thank you for your patience.

Please accept our apologies for such delays. The issue now is handled by Secondline Technical Support.

Current behavior of the Windows applications in the Coherence mode is under investigation of our Development team.

We have collected all needed data for further investigation, and escalated your issue to our Development Team for further consideration. They are continually working on issues that are escalated from our Support Team, however do not share an ETA for a fix until one is available.

If a fix is available it will be included in an upcoming software update. To enable automatic updates, from the Parallels Desktop Menu, select Preferences > General > Download Updates Automatically.

Since your issue has been escalated to our Developers Request Tracking tool, and is no longer being worked on by Parallels Support, we will be marking this support ticket as “resolved”. The Development Team does not provide individual updates but if additional information is required or a workaround becomes available shortly, Parallels will contact you directly. At this time, no additional actions are required from you.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Looking forward for your comprehension.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's about the extent of what I've seen in other threads. Anyone ever try out VMware? I wonder if they have all the same issues.

I don't imagine they will include a fix in Parallels 8.
BUT, I would be willing to pay to upgrade to Parallels 9 if this fix was included.
There's just no way to know, until you try.
And I don't want to shell out the money for the upgrade unless this bug is fixed, as the other features are not worth paying for, at least for me.
BTW, I have not tried VMware Fusion.
From everything I've read, the 2 are very close. But, I suspect that each has its own idiosyncrasies.
This problem might not exist in Fusion, but another one might.
And it's unfortunately not trivial to swap one out for the other.
    Sigh...

I've got the same exact problem and I'm running v9 of the Parallels software. Anyone gotten an update on this?

I'm having the same problem with the hidden title bar in full screen on primary display but works on secondary display. Clean install of OS X 10.9.2 Mavericks, Parallels 8.0.18615, and a Windows 7 VM.
