    Hi,

I'm trying to run Maplestory on Parallels desktop. The game starts in full screen, plays a beep and then
it quits showing a modal dialog that states "A possible hacking threat has been detected".

I have double checked for spyware/virus/keloggers etc using proper softwares. I have turned off windows firewall.
I have tried to reinstall the game. I do not run other resident programs, I have even tried to kill useless processes
by hand in the task manager. Nothing works.

I've tried the shared internet networking and the bridged ethernet networking, both unsuccesfully.

Any tips on how to get rid of the problem and play the game? Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any helpful answer.

Almost got it all working... but

    Hey John,
I'm new to parallels... just got it for my macbook which i also just got... its the macbook that is about 1500$ without tax right now ... 90% because i wanted to play maple story on it... so i installed parallels... intalled Windows XP... installed a clean version of MS from my friend(works perfectly on his PC)...
I can start the program... I can even log in...but when i get to choose my characters... all the characters(sprites) are invisible!!... my characters and all the other characters... I can still see the names under them but i can't see them... the rest of the game works fine "I think"... is there something i need to change in the parallel settings to fix it?

P.S. I've tried reinstalling everything from the parallels to the windows xp to a maplestory that I downloaded from THE mapleglobal itself)... but nothing works! pls help...
P.S.S. Thanks alot for any help you can give me...

I have no idea how to find out... but i heard maplestory works on VM fusion or Bootcamp so i'll just try those until you can get it to work on parallels... i heard it used to work on 3.0 or something but then didn't work anymore on the updated versions... so thnx for trying to help... if you can.. please let me know when MAPLESTORY works on your program... i'll probably go back since it was very easy to get everything started... I just don't wanna have to buy it again...

    Block characters when playing maple

    Hi John

I am also having the same issue. It was and is working fine for Parallels v3.0. Once I updated to v4.0 it did not work at all. Upgraded then to latest version with build 4.0.3540. Maple will only work if 3D acceleration is ticked. All the characters appear as blank blocks.

I have also created a new virtual machine, reinstalled only the necessary directx software and maple app and still getting same result.

Any help to fix this is greatly appreciated.

I reported a bug against Parallels 4.0 regarding a functionality regression with DirectX (and OpenGL, for that matter). I wonder if this behavior with Maple Story is just another manifestation of that.

For me, with certain games, I'm seeing sprite transparency not being honored, so you end up with a box behind every sprite. Same game works great on PD3.

Sadly, all I got for my report and analysis is a "Thanks! Watch out for the next update!" This was about a month ago. I really really hope this gets fixed in the next update. Or at least get listed under "known issues" in the next update, so that I can be sure that it's at least in their defect tracker. The latest PD4 beta (build 3804) did NOT list this as a known issue, which worries me.

Understandable that Maple is not in the list of supported apps or games for v4 under http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/features/3d/

... then again it was working in v3, was it supported in that version?

Is there any chance the game will ever get to work properly in v4?
