Is there any possibility of triggering the suspend functions in the quest OSes?

Ideally the pause/play buttons would work like closing/opening the lid on a laptop. Thus when you opened it later, the OS could do all the useful wake-up functions. Getting new DHCP leases and probing for changes with respect to removable hardware like USB devices.

I find myself manually re-DHCP'ing the IP's for my VM's. The FreeBSD one in particular stands out as I need to do it all the time. This VM is usually running when my MBP gets a new DHCP IP because it just moved networks.

A full stop/shutdown just to move networks is overkill.

No clear clear answers came up in searching for ACPI, APM, standby or suspend, so I hope there is something like this in the development plans.
